Notice from Hampshire Highways: Works to start on 27th July

As part of Hampshire County Council’s annual Planned Maintenance programme, micro surface treatment works will be completed along New Odiham Road, Alton from The Avenue to Basingstoke Road Roundabout.

The purpose of the treatment is to return a surface texture to the carriageway, that in a recent condition survey was highlighted as being poor. The treatment is also designed to regulate the shape of the road and seal the road structure from water ingress, which will help prevent potholes from forming.

These works are currently programmed to start on 27th July 2026 and are expected to take up to 5 days to complete. During this time the road will be closed from approximately 08:00hrs on 27th July 2026 through to 08:00hrs on 1st August 2026. Vehicular access for residents and businesses will only be maintained if safe to do so during the works, and small amounts of traffic in the early life of the treatment will not be detrimental. Pedestrian access to properties will not be affected, and emergency vehicles will have access at all times.
